Senator Duff was quick with a smile but he understood how much being able to get legally get married meant to us.  We really appreciated the copy of our vows and having it all captured on a DVD that we can share with our family and friends. 

You made it easy for us and that made our day memorable because it went so smoothly.

Three RVing Women “United” for Joyous Event

Thanks to a wonderful ad placed in the May/June edition of RVing Women, Linda Sweely and Linda Baldassari learned of Mary Pugh, a justice of the peace in Connecticut, who performs same sex marriages.

Linda and Linda are full-time RV’ers and had returned to Pennsylvania to visit family members after working for a while in Baton Rouge, LA. When Linda saw the ad in RVing Women for Mary’s services she knew that it would truly be special to have a woman RV’er marry them. Connecticut is among the growing list of states that have legalized same sex marriages. Linda and Linda had planned a trip to New Jersey to visit a brother there and with Connecticut only two hours away it was an opportune time to take advantage of Mary’s services.

With only a few days notice, Mary helped them decide on a beautiful outdoor location, with a stone pavilion, pond and multiple fountains as a backdrop. She gave them all the specifics on what they would need to obtain their marriage license once they arrived in Darien, CT. She also assisted them with the writing of their own vows. All of this took place in the matter of three short days.

On the morning of May 28 Linda and Linda drove up to Darien, CT and although there was a light rain falling, the whole process went seamlessly. The clerks at Darien’s town hall were wonderful to deal with. With license in hand, the two Linda’s and Mary went to Tilly Pond Park for the ceremony. Mary took a video of the exchanging of vows and many, many pictures…to capture their special day.

We are so thankful for finding an RVing woman that could make our special day even that much more special. It was also very special to be the first RVing Women that Mary has been given the opportunity to marry. We were doubly honored !

When my then fiancée and I decided to wed, we knew that we were going to have one major challenge; Who would marry us?

Being raised along very different branches of the religious and spiritual tree, we sought a blend of beliefs that would honor each other's heritage while staying true to our own personal understandings.

We literally stumbled upon Mary using a popular Internet search engine. After learning more about her, we decided that she was the right person.

We are over-joyed with her. She did such a remarkable job! My goodness, by the time the ceremony had ended, we had grafted her as part of the family and insisted that she take photos with us.

She encouraged us, with guidance and samples, to write our own vows.

Even though we needed to plan our wedding from 2500 miles from our hometown, she made us feel comfortable, confident, and empowered.
 
Truly, we cannot begin to express our appreciation. She is awesome.

We added some humor to our vows and she delivered the lines with such poise and grace that it took a moment before our audience caught the joke. When they did, the crowd exploded with delight.

We HIGHLY recommend her. She goes well beyond expectations and will make your ceremony an personal, unforgettable, beautiful, and transplendant event.

Mary, what can we say? We thought it would be stressful trying to plan a wedding in a State we've never been to, and choosing a wedding location that fits the personality of the two of us.

Thank you for helping us every step of the way, from calling us within the first hour that we sent an inquiry, to sending photos of multiple wedding locations for us to choose from.

You ensured we arrived safely to CT, and even gave us suggestions on where to eat dinner on our wedding night.

You even hid Yolanda away from me so that we didn't see each other until right before the ceremony began, and that was special and exciting for us!

The cd of photos and the mini videos will be shared with our friends and family for years to come.

We will recommend you to all of our friends that will decide to make this very important life decision. Thank you, Mary! Blessings to you always!

We would again like to thank you for being so kind and aiding us in accomplishing our wedding in a rather spontaneous way and while we were traveling for other reasons!

Just a quick note to apologize, thank, and praise you.

Rick’s Mother passed away this past Thursday and he immediately drove from his apartment in Maryland to Savannah, GA. to join his Father and brother in mourning her loss. Unfortunately, in the scramble, he had not taken the opportunity to express our “thanks” to you.

We simply could not have been more thrilled, pleased, and gratified in having selected you as the Justice of the Peace to preside at our recent wedding.

Your assistance and guidance before we arrived in the great state of Connecticut was invaluable. You recall, that we decided to marry (on our 25^th anniversary together) was made a scant few days in advance of that date. What with Rick temporarily living in Bethesda, Maryland and me maintaining our home in Atlanta, Georgia, you provided the professional guidance and thought to smooth everything out. Darien is a beautiful city and the park provided a perfect ceremony location.

Rick drafted the vows we wanted, and you polished the ceremony to perfection! Your suggestions on lodging, timing, location, and even in places to dine beforehand and to celebrate afterwards were all so perfect.

Your follow-up with emailed photos and the mailed C.D. were like icing on a beautiful cake.

We will always remember that you were THE big part of our big day, and we will always be in your debt.

I wanted to take a moment to express our sincere thanks.  We had decided to get married in Connecticut to give it legal standing somewhere.  Our minds had been focused on bureaucracy of it and its legal significance.  We are planning a much larger ceremony at our Temple where our rabbi will join us together in front of about 90 guests.

But we were not prepared for the emotional high that we would get from the ceremony in Connecticut.  We were so happy with the way that you and everybody at the Darien Town Hall treated us from the time we entered us to the moment we left.  You really made the day special in so many ways.

My Dad, Step mom and "the cousin" Dana all agreed that you handled the whole thing with grace and charm.  Please extend our thanks to the women at the Darien Town Hall.

We look forward to getting the DVD with the pictures and film.

Anyways, it goes without saying that Howard and I had the most amazing time.  I think our guests, family and friends, did too. 

You really helped make our event very special and meaningful.  Even though you've done "so many of these", you gave it such a personal and upbeat touch.  Little things you did like taking pics (and sending some of them a few hours later!); wearing a coordinating stole (your lavender one was perfect with the lilacs and casablanca lilies); giving us little trinkets, bubbles, etc, and the way you did the personalized certificate (we're going to keep it just the way you gave it to us!) added so immeasurably to our event. 

Your caring, sensitivity and professionalism really helped make our special day smooth and fluid; we felt no worries about any of the ceremony because you are so reassuring!  

I really can't say enough about you!  Sorry if i sound like I'm gushing, but it is what it is!  We were so lucky to find you and lucky that you were free to officiate for us!

Mary was helpful from the very beginning.  We came from out of state, and had only a few days where we could plan and have our wedding. 

Mary worked with our schedule and extremely short notice, plus it was during the holiday season!  She also told us about places where we could hold the ceremony and sent us all of the information we needed to get our license as well as volumes of other helpful information. 

If she wouldn't have helped us with the prep work before we came up, I'm not sure how we would have been able to do everything in such a short amount of time. 

The ceremony itself was beautiful, she had us fill out a questionnaire, so that the service met our needs and tailored the vows and prayers to suit us and our beliefs. 

She even made sure we had pictures! 

Her demeanor was absoultely joyous as she seemed to share in the happiness we felt in our moment; we felt like she really wanted to perform our ceremony, instead of doing her job. 

We would recommend Mary time and again.

I've been wanting to write to you to thank you for officiating our wedding ceremony. Our ceremony turned out perfectly - everything went so smoothly. AND, I wanted to thank you for all the pics you sent too. You got some great shots that others didn't get so I'm quite happy about that. Anyways, I'm glad you found me on here as I've been wanting to send you a thank you but I'm keep getting wrapped up with things... I still have so many things on my "to-do" list even though the wedding is over... haha.
